Thank you for your participation in the online module Intermediate Practice in Motivational Interviewing.
We hope that you found it insightful, helpful and that it will have a positive impact on your clinical practice. The goal of completing this module is to enhance your practice in Motivational Interviewing (MI).
The MI Dos and Don’ts helps to stress that no clinical interview will be perfect. Being proficient in MI can take a lot of practice. However, even with the clinician used non-MI compliant skills, the interview was not disastrous. Using MI will improve the interview and will help the client resolve ambivalence and move towards change.
Interviewing Bob gave us an opportunity responding to his statements using OARS. Hopefully your responses will elicit change talk (DARN CAT) from Bob. If not, keep on trying. Remember it takes practice. You may want to come back in the future and practice again or elicit feedback from your colleagues.
